4 movements of soup

'4 movements of soup' is a performance for two people who have never met before in a language without any word-meaning. They communicate via a score made up of arbitrary symbols (which are variations of a standard rectangle) that have each been given a sound. As the performance progresses they get to know each other solely by intonation and body language in front of an audience who reads meaning into everything they do. As they perform they are continuously interrupted by the sound of someone making soup. 12 people currently speak the "language".

‘4 movements of soup’ is also act 4 in A Sound Play/A Play on Sounds. Something familiar, fill me up.
